Its precious fruits are very reminiscent of the lantern plant, physalis. The berries of ashwagandha, however, are bright red, very striking and are also used in India to make soap. The ground seeds are suitable as a vegan cheese substitute and the ground root as an ancient Ayurvedic natural product.
